It should work, the reason I was having trouble is cause I was using a JDM IX key for the program. I ended up swapping transponders instead .
btw, reprogramming instructions are in the manual.
I'm also probably going to sell my extra IX key blank....

did anyone confirm that it can be programmed with only one old working key and one new programmed key?

Mitsubishi wanted to charge me $50 for a key and $65 to program it. (for 1 key only)

if i can reprogram it myself, then I would.

I think you can add up to 2 keys (4 total) before having to clear key memory.

2 existing working keys

1. Insert a working key and turn it to the on position for 5 secs
2. Turn the key to off and remove
3. Insert the second working key and turn it to the on position and wait for the Theft-Alarm indicator to blink twice
4. Insert your new chipped key and switch the key to the on position and again wait for the Theft-Alarm indicator light to come on and this time it will stay on for 3 seconds.

If the Alarm blinks three times there was an error and start the process over again.

If you do not have the second key be ready to sell body parts to a dealer to reflash your ecu.

so which evos does this apply to? Please update.

I can't find my alarm indicator light anywhere, I have an 2004 evo8. In the process of programming new key you have to see the indicator light blinking or turn on but I don't see it in the car. Help please
