Cabin Air Filter
yeah, i might have to go thru you. I just got back from the dealer getting fluids changed and asked them for one of these. I got home and opened it up and it looks strangely like an engine intake filter.

I put a cabin filter in my car today. They appear to be charcoal filters now. The one pictured in the OP looks way too white to be charcoal. Mine definitely is charcoal, the part # MR398288 Air Refresher Assy.
I got my filter for $52.10 at Marion Mitsubishi Subaru (Marion, Illinois), and so far I think it is a pretty nice addition. The install was pretty easy, just a few minutes. The air flowing through the vent certainly seems to smell cleaner. I had to clean dust out before adding the filter as there was a nice thick coating all on the inside where the squirrel cage rests.
