Before someone says anything let me state......I SEARCHED ON THIS SUBJECT BUT COULD NOT FIND A PROPER POST TO ANSWER THE QUESTION!


I'm looking for a how to on removing paint on interior parts. Yes you can sand it down, but I don't want to repaint the parts I just want them the stock color.

I saw some people using aircraft stripper for wheels and such, but no one using it on interior panels.

Does anybody know the best way of doing this?

 

steel wool worked for me.

 

Steel Wool, sandpaper, and elbow grease.

 

if u sand them down the surface is going to be smooth and not all surfaces of the interior are completely smooth some have some texture on the i would try some paint stripper from auto parts. just read on the back to see how it handles plastics

 

If i get fine enough steel wool it may not scratch the plastic. I can try that.

I was hoping that someone had already tried something. The last thing I want to do is to have a bleaching effect on the plastic parts from some kind of stripper.

 

Aircraft stripper is for use on metal. Why not scuff them and paint them a stock color or have a body shop do it.

 

DO NOT USE PAInT STRIPPER!!!! It will almst completely dissolve or deform any plastic peice....

 

The previous owner of my car painted the pillar colums to match the black gauge pod. The problem is the seatbelts fly back and ding the crap out of the painted pillar covers. So no paint would be the best solution for me.

I was trying to find out if there was a cheaper way than just replacing all of the pillar covers.

 

wrap them in leather or suede?

 

but parts to replace yours then sell your old stuff hope to brake even

 

same problem here man. The guy that owned the car before me put a fake green carbon fiber trim kit in the interior and when i tried to remove it, it pulled all the paint off the stock trim pieces.So the only way to really fix it is buy new pieces for it to look right.

 

try goof off 2 avaliable at home depot or lowes alittle pricey less than $10.it will remove paint and tar from house carpet will get paint of wood also.it may fade the plastic alittle.
