Does anyone know whether the upper clutch switch on an Evo 8 is normally open or closed when the clutch pedal is up?

I have a question here. I am having some serious rev hang issue..... like it gets stuck at 5k after a boot. If i push the clutch in slightly, essentially closing the upper clutch switch, the revs go back to normal.

Solution? Unplug the switch?
