BOV Help!!
Hey I have a 2003 evo 8 and I bought a SSQV BOV I was plannin on puttin it on but I read some posts online. Where is the best place to put the BOV and do I have to get a tune for it if I get it VTA cause some people said I did and some said I didnt have to. They also mentioned gettin the AMS EMS. It is all stock right now but I am planing on buying a short ram and also upper and lower ic piping. Any help? Thanks.
you can do it. VTA isn't advised based on that fact it can cause driveability issues or concerns.
but my evo was VTA untill i swapped to an evo x bov.
all my previous dsm's were VTA with no issues and no tune.
just make sure you have no air leaks.

those ssqvs are garbage on our evos man, why make your car run worse than it should? use the search on here for the bov and every other q you might have. lots of good stuff like dyno comparisons between diff intakes for you (perrin nets the most hp btw)

Runs pretty rough VTA. If you don't mind almost stalling at stop lights and signs then go for it. But, it doesn't provide any performance benefit. If you really want a new BOV/WG go for the stock IX wastegate.
Definitely do some reading before buying any more parts!!! That BOV is known to be junk on these cars. Plus if you are pretty close to stock (or running less than 26 PSI) the stock 9 MR BOV is the best choice for you. Even above 26 PSI you can crush the BOV a little and it will hold boost like a champ and retain the stock driveability.
Ok Thanks guys yea I switched to a recirculated forged BOV from a 9 and it works very well. You can hear it a little which is no problem but yea I had some problems where it was very close to stalling. It would drop down past idle point then come back up.. so i just switch to somethin else.
