Riley's Evo VIII nose chop

Blew my transfer case and i figured i had some time to get some stuff done so i decided to go about doing a nose chop on my tarmac black evo 8. i did a lot of research on looking how others have done it in the past and went about trying it myself. the pics will do most of the talking.

the start

no turning back now

countersunk some rivets into a piece of sheet metal for extra strength

a quick layer of bondo to fill the edges and get a good base for fiberglass and fill the holes above the rivets

sanding...

fiberglass 1 layer

more sanding...

and still more sanding...

i still have a little more to do. one good coat of bondo on top to get a nice level surface and then fiberglass underneath to completely encoat the sheet metal to prevent rusting. a quick spray from your trusty neighborhood rattle can and that should be it.

I am curious how this is going to turn out. I have been entertaining the thought of hacking my emblem out of my bumper to make it 100% debadged. Gutsy move by the way. Can't wait to see the finished product.

sanded down the bondo and filled in some low points with bondo spot glazing putty (its basically pre-mixed bondo for small imperfections)

thanks

now to cut down the upper part

i wanted to leave as much as possible up there so it wouldnt break

taped off to throw down some paint to find parts that still need more sanding

first coat is just a light dusting

found some low points so another layer of glazing putty goes down
