555R,

We are currently offering this peice at 1199.99 Shipped. Since we are in Japan right now, and will be there until the 18th. If you are looking to order this peice during that time frame, we have it shipped back. The average wait time for arrival will be roughly 2-3 weeks.

any ideas how tough install is
do you have to remove the center console? meaning is it thrown away or can it be run with it
i would hate to have a decent interior with that sticking out in the middle of it all

+1, also, is this for cars that are track only or mostly used on the track or would it be ok for a semi daily driver and weekend drag race car?

I will talk to Johnny Ito of WELD and see what he says as far as how difficult it is to install.

Okay I spoke with GarageHRS and I was informed that it is not very hard to install, I will find out more details in a bit. And to clarify, it is not yet available for the 6spd Tranny's, only the 5's are available.

For whoever posted asking how it works, I would have thought it is not hugely different from a motorcycle gear change mechanism. Basically a set of rotary cams and/or some sort of plate with a guide in the form of a slot. A bit vague, but it's not easy to describe without pictures.
You move it one way to go up a gear and another to go down. I wonder how it finds neutral and how successfully to does so compared to motorcycles.

On another matter, I wonder how come they make the 6spd for the Sti but not the evo. Seems strange to me. I wouldn't have thoought there's that much difference and if anything the 6 spd needs it more.

EVO is cable based... STI is directly into the transmission.. reverse lockout is another issue...
