Just say NO to crappy suspension for your EVO. Ohlins, JRZ, AST, KW, Swift, Whiteline

This is gonna be a little different than our usual for sale threads. I'm only gonna list a few things here and there. If you want a full set-up, it's much better to call or PM us so we can work with you on options and put together a package that fits YOU.

We're suspension guys. We want to be the fastest when we compete in auto-x, time attack, and wheel to wheel racing. Power is nice, but handling and grip is a lot harder to dial in and where more time is found.

And we try to do it while maintaining good ride quality. Because we've learned that crappy ride quality is a sign of a crappy shock and crappy handling. Even time trial cars with 700 lbs/in springs can still feel smooth. We've also learned that 90% of the suspension options out there are indeed....crap.

We can set you up with the best solution for your specific uses. Custom rates, custom valving if it's needed. JRZ, Ohlins, AST, KW, Bilstein. Swift springs. Whiteline swaybars and bushings. You really don't need to bother with anything else.

So if you want grip, give us a call or send me a PM.

Basically, if you want to compete and win....you get JRZ. We share shop space with Bryan of JRZ and get to watch him rebuild and revalve Porsche race shocks all day. The level of service is incredible and we're very fortunate to be able to work with him and learn more about shocks in the process.

Please call for more information. These shocks are custom built to order and are the ULTIMATE in suspension engineering for your EVO.

The Vorshlag guys are doing some great work developing the AST 5000 series dampers for the EVO. Beefy, inverted front struts, remote canisters, custom built to order.

KW Variant 3. Great value for the EVO owner who wants a track worthy shock that offers double adjustable damping and solid spring rates at a good price. We have tons of experience with KW and can help dial them in.

We offer custom "mild" and "spicy" spring rate options. The stock KW rates suck, don't get them.

Please call or PM.

Whiteline Geometry and Bushing Package - Still $419!shipped

Whiteline Roll Center Kit
Whiteline Bumpsteer Correction Kit
Whiteline Rear Trailing Arm Bushings
Whiteline Front Control Arm Bushings

These Whiteline Geometry and Bushing parts correct the adverse effects of lowering an EVO while removing a lot of the "slop" from the stock bushings. Firmer bushings prevent dynamic changes in camber, caster, and toe, while the Roll Center Kit relocates the roll center of the car, correcting a side effect of lowering an EVO.

These parts make a great addition to GTWorx Suspension Stages or any coilover system.

We are also still running a group buy for our GTWorx EVO springs. They are IMO the best handling springs available for the EVO...not for posers.

Andrew's top 5 things to look for in a coilover

1. A solid US presence from the manufacturer. Can you have them rebuilt quickly and easily without sending them to China, Japan, Germany, Afghanistan, etc.?

2. Spring rates. If a manufacturer puts softer springs in the rear for the EVO....it's a good sign they don't know what they are doing. Seriously big red flags should go up if they do this.

3. Can you get someone on the phone to talk to you about the shock and how to adjust? How about good alignment settings? How about being able to do that on the weekend when you're at the track?

4. Damper travel. You can't soak up mid-corner bumps (or potholes) if you only have an inch of travel before hitting the bumpstops. Lots of coilovers are like this unfortunately. Separate ride height and preload adjustment is nice, but if you have hardly any travel to start with....sorry....you're gonna have some trouble.

5. Valving. The hardest to see and the hardest to evaluate. Shock dyno plots are helpful but can be difficult to understand and not always available. Can the vendor explain how the shock will feel and the reasoning behind the valving?

Remember....a kidney crunching ride is NOT always fast.

Does the PSS9 reuse the stock mounts?
What is the specific valving difference between the MR and HD Bilsteins?

I have the MR with normal Swifts on right now, and a set of Greddy type-S - which came off due to my daily drives on crappy NYC roads.

GTWORX.com Aug 28, 2009 10:59 AM

PSS9 reuse stock mounts. They have a slightly different thread pitch on the top so most camber plates don't work. We can do custom Vorshlag plates that work.

HD Bilsteins are slightly firmer than the MR Bilsteins. Just a little. I would say they are more controlled and ride quality is still much better than stock KYB.

Bump for Drew, he knows his stuff and can really get you fast! Call him, sometimes your friends old coilovers or some off the shelf kit is just not gonna do it for you. They can set you up with REAL suspension.

mmmmMMMmmmm KW....275/40/17 Rcomp v710's and no body roll FTW
