Need help installing alarm....help
Ok first off yeah I am a newbie to the whole Evo world as well as to the forums. I have searched all the forums over and over and I still cant figure something out. Heres my dilema, I am installing a Hornet 700T in my 03 Evo and I got everything to work except the arm and disarm. ( for those not familiar with the alar it uses the keyless entry remote to arm and disarm. ) The keyless entry arms and disarms the alarm but the lock and unlock button on the door does the same. I guess I wired it up to the door lock / unlock motor. Anyways, which 2 wires are the ones that change polarity when using the keyless entry remote ONLY. Please help.....thanks
please don't take this as a flame...take it from someone who's done hundreds and hundreds of security/remote start installs....
please remove yourself from doing this install....
i've seen so many inexperienced people come in w/self installed alarms that don't work, and I have to troubleshoot their poorly wired, poorly connected mess. and at very best, they didn't do any detrimental damage. I've seen others that had to replace airbag control modules, ecu's, factory alarm brains, ignition switches, etc...
take the alarm of your car, be sure to cover all your previous connections with 3M super33+ electrical tape and that there is no chance of those wires arching on anything else...
then take your car to CC or BB and make sure you request an experienced installer to work on your car(just in case).
your car will be done right the first time. and the best part is the lifetime install warrenty. The hardware rarely goes bad...99.9% of the time, it's a part of the install that fails overtime. with the lifetime warrenty, you can take your car to any cc or bb, and they'll do all the troubleshooting for you.
it's worth every penny.
installing an alarm is NOT like installing a stereo, totally different methodology and requires lots of experience...especially on newer vehicles.

i have to agree, i've done plenty of stereo, and even dvd's in cars, but alrms, take me forever to do. i've done a few, but now i let my friend who works as an alarm installer do my alarms. i pretty much gave up on alarms after buying a n autopage w/ autostart for my truck. after i opened the box, i gave it to my friend to do.
Goo job!
I take it you found the driver side door only unlock wire needed to disarm the system. It took me a week (on again off again) to finish my keyless entry alarm upgrade. My 14 year old even asked do you know what you are doing? I slapped his mouth (j/k).
As far as those that are discouraging this dude from doing his own alarm....you suck. It is not that hard to install a friggin alarm. You just need a VOM. It's not like you are trying to ID the wires on you ECU with no schematic or something. It is time consuming, but NOT difficult.
