Best color maintenance
Hi all. I'm seriously considering trading in my stage4 wrx for an 05 EVO this summer and i'm deciding on a color. my wrx is black and it looks good for about an hour after i wash and wax it. I know a thing or two about detailing, i live by the laws of autopia.org. however dark colors are just too much work.
so i'm asking the owners here who are into detailing how each color hides dirt, swirl marks, etc. from my experience
black = best looking / worst upkeep
white = just like black but a little easier upkeep
silver = excellent dirt hider, always looks pretty clean
blue = hides dirt but may show swirls
red = no idea ???
yellow = too flashy for my tastes.
what are your opinions and experiences?
btw i'm leaning towards red or blue.

Red and blue are good colors but when they are dirty they look dull. Silver is the best color for what your looking for. The only down side to silver is that it doesn't hide scratches well.

Silver hides dirt well but white is easier to clean. (IMO) But one thing I don't like about white is that you can see the paint chip off from rocks, now if you have a black evo, you won't notice any chips.
If you're really caught up on overall looks, I say go with the black again. Nothing is as nice as a clean black car...nothing. I have a silver one, almost got a blue one, and passed on the black due to the dirt issue...I probably should have sucked it up and taken the black, just crazy nice when clean. But, the silver is nice to not have to worry about...
if you live by the laws of autopia, and don't want black...then get blue or red...that way you can appreciate the gloss as well as depth of the paint without being to worked over on black with all the different polishes/waxes/sealants that you want to try...hehe...remember, it's 10% products 90%technique
i totally agree with you EVOwhat. Black looks sooo hot when it's fresh. but here in NJ with all the rain, enviromental fall out and in the winter, salt. a black car just looks like death after a day of driving.
Silver definately seems to be the color with the lowest maintenance, problem is i'm not a fan of it. It's nice but not for me. ohw ell i stll have 6 months to decide hehe
