for the past 3 days i been trying to paint the diamond star emblems, the rear came off easy no problem. after applying 3 coats of krylon nonprimeing and sanding fushion black gloss paint and a few hours of it waiting to dry, it came out decent. then i applied a clear coat. it came out semi decent. today i tryed glueing it back on the glue would not let it stick to the car and then the paint on the emblem which has been dryed for a day or more left finger prints. oh also i broke the front emblem. the only good outcome was the lancer emblem came out good and its sticking to the car as we speak. does anyone know of a certain paint or something im doing wrong that can make this go right? im about to go buy another set of emblems and just take it to a shop to have them do it. thanks for any advice.
With out knowing all the facts Iwill take a guess. The krylon paint might not have
been compatible with the clear coat you used,so it never really dried. Some glues
loosen paint so you will not get a good bond. If you buy a new one I would sand
it with 600 grit sand paper for adhesian ,in body shops we usually spay a adhesian
promator to stick to the bare plastic then paint.
I would use the krylon gloss paint with out the clear coat.In love bug season they would
eat into the clear coat anyway. Single stage paints hold up better (no clear coat)
to love bug damage.

Be careful with scotch bright scuf pads on plastic it is a open cut.Meaning it has a tendancy
to swell when painted making the sanding marks look deeper bigger. I only use scotch
bright on under sides of hoods or cut ins. I use 3m soft pad in ultra fine for edges
600 hook it for big areas . Customers do not want to see sanding marks or scratches
in their paint, and Ido not want to have stop in the middle of a paint job to sand something
out or try to bury it with more paint. Not very cost effective or time effective

Dont use Glue to out the emblme back on. USE the RED doublsided by 3M foundonly in Hardware stores (Home Depot that kinda stuff). This will work better than any glue.....
