Im super angry...on to spray paint

All this time my body kit was "being worked on".

I stopped by the guys house, and he wasn't home, so I go arouind back and what do I see, MY BODY KIT, STILL IN THE BOX. For 600 bucks, this is bull$hit!.

So, I've been thinking of picking up color matched aerosol cans, base coats and clear coat and having a go at it myself. I can get all the paint I need, about 10 cans of each for around 225 bucks.

Has anyone ever attempted this in a hard to match color, like silver? Is 600 bucks too much money for someone to paint a kit, and not even offer to install it? I think so...honestly.....

The end result does not have to be SHOW quality. Read DOES NOT.

It does, however have to come very close to matching and be free of blemishes. I feel as long as I take my time and do it properly, I can accomplish it.

No, I dont need flames. Negative criticisms are welcomed, as I dont want to do a 225 dollar job on the kit, but very well may have to if I dont get my $$$ back.

Any positive experiences and techniques are welcomed. Thanks to all.

I would recommend....

What i would recomend is go to an auto store (Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, Pep Boys) get a silver primer that comes closest to matching or one that your satisfied with and go ahead and prime that bad boy up. Then put the kit on your self....not hard at all.... If you want you can even call me and i could personally talk you through it if you want too. (pm me for my number). Then when you have some extra cash on the side, take it to get done at a body shop. My car got a full paint job at a shop called Spray-Glo. I'm not sure if there are any of those outside of GA but there are 3 here in Georgia.
That color is Daytona Blue Metallic. It;s a dodge color but since Dodge owns 45% of Mitsubishi... Ic onsider it a mitsubishi color.lol

Well anyways my fiend has a yellow OZ. We put on his body kit and he had it his kit painted tomatch factory OZ yellow. It was only 450 dollars. If i had pictures i would show you... but i don't sorry. Well that's what i would do. II hope i have been of some help to you!

I've never tried to paint anything myself but if I was I wouldn't get cans of paint. I would buy a spray gun and a small compresor. I've seen them for sale for the paint kit and the compresor for about $300. That would probably be your best bet. By the way $600 is a fair price to paint a bodykit but it should be installed. Maybe you shouldn't paint it yourself and just take it to another shop.
