Has anyone replaced the rear speakers? they look like 6.5s but I wanted to double check.

I think they have the sizes for all cars..

 

I installed them in my RS. I used 6.75's from Crutchfield. You have to use the little adaptor that comes with the speakers. I would also strongly advise tossing the screws that come with the speakers and buy some machine screws, lock washers, and nuts. If you don't the crappy screws will come loose and the speakers will rattle. Don't ask me how I know this..

 

I took the stock ones out, cut the speakers out of the frame (5 minutes) and drilled in a pair of Sony XPolds 6.5 into the frame. This way you can bolt it back into the stock hole without any gaps.

 

is it possible to cut out the hole to fit a set of 6x9's in the rear?

I have a REALLY nice set of 6x9's from my old car that i'd love to use, i'd really hate having to sell them.
