Ahh...ok so the 8V preouts, RCA's, is what's causing it...it doesn't happen very often to be honest so it's not a huge problem for me. I have an old 5 channel Rockford Fosgate lying around and a new JL 4 channel. The Rockford used to thermally shut down frequently during our hot summers here. Not sure if it'd do any better under the passenger's seat (or if it'd even fit!). Thanks for the info!

sorry for bumping an old thread. im gonna upgrade to a diff headunit and read that you need TWO adapters? it seems that the "MITAH wire" is a definite yes, but what about this power harness. wouldn't the new headunit come with that already? again, sorry for the dumb questions.

thanks.

so basically it's pointless to change the headunit because the amp will eventually cut off huh?

Tweeters are connected to the front speakers, so the front RCAs will handle the door speakers and tweeters.

Does this apply to the EVO IX with SSL also since it has 7 speakers?

That is what I have found through my own searches and those of others here on EVOM. I haven't bought any of these myself YET, as I'm in the process of gather info to buy what I need. If any of this is incorrect, please feel free to correct me!
I bought the combo harness from audioallies. I have the SSL package. Since there are no connections on the harness for the subwoofer rca jacks located on the back of the head-unit I bought, how does the factory subwoofer get it's signals from the new head-unit? I'm a little confused.

'04 S&S = '05 SSL = '06 SSL = same deck, same 7 speakers.

I found out my cutting out was related to a particular CD. I don't think it's cut out on me since. I installed my Sirius receiver which plugs into the Eclipse head unit and placed the antenna in the rear window inside the car. Not a good move as the satellite radio is now cutting out depending on what direction I'm facing, sigh....

and, is it possible to put a larger 4 channel amp in place of the stock amp and still use the stock wiring to the speakers? I know the sub wouldnt work at that point, but i'd run a 2nd amp in the trunk for that.
