Quick question.. Do you have to take the rear bumper reinforcement off in order to bolt on the IX bumper??!

Does this mean I am way WAY screwed if I get rear ended?

I got rear ended at like 15 mph tops two years ago (July 4th weekend 2003) and it was $4000. New rear bumper and crumpled trunk. Sounds like taking that beam out turns the Evo into a Pinto!

the crush beam is only designed for 10mph crumble zone. In an event of any rear-end collision, its lose-lose situation. that crush-beam ain't going to save anything.

That my be true, but if you get rear-ended, it's most likely not your fault. However, if the other driver's insurance carrier has an adjuster look at your car, and is smart enough to notice the crash beam is missing, does that give them grounds for not paying out for damages? That's a big chance I for one cannot take..
