Relocated radiator overflow tank - not too shabby

I got bored and decided to take the rad-overflow tank out and see if I can find another place for it. It seems this just might do the trick.

I'm always messing around under the hood to hide suff, tuck wires away, crap like that.

I didn't think the tank needed to be there. Makes the engine bay look cleaner.

I thought it had to be higher than the radiator itself, no?

Well if fluids need to drain to it you think it would be better to have the tank lower for the fluids to get to the tank easier. My tank has never been full, just a little bit on the bottom.

Good point but half the stuff in there isn't on the car anymore.

I have a disorder. Everytime I go out in the garage I stand there and stare at the engine bay and try to find something else I can hide or relocate.

Actually, the fluid needs to be able to return to the radiator after it cools down. As the radiator cools down, it creates a small vacuum which draws fluid out of the overflow and back into the radiator (this is especially true after an overheat situation). You may have just made your overflow bottle not function anymore. It really depends on exactly how far below the radiator fill neck the relocated bottle is. The small vacuum that is created will only pull coolant uphill very slightly I would think. Just my two cents...

If I had it my way I would remove the tank all together. I never had enough fluid in the tank to even matter. Even when hot as hell.

thats cool, but i think im just gonna get the power steering and the overflow res. in a polished tank form. Hiding is great but i also hate empty holes when there is stuff filled in everywhere else, its just like what goes there?
