I run these 255/40/17 on my stock wheels as well, do a search lots of people love'em in this size. IMHO they are better than the Advans on the track, and they got rid of a lot of the bump-steer I used to experience. Oh yeah and they grip like mad and manage heat great as long as you do your part to manage pressure. 36psi hot on all 4 corners does it for me.

get a drop!
I would get 245s if Falken made them in a diameter that didn't adversely effect your final drive ratio,.. the 245/45 is considerably larger in diameter whereas the 255/40 is actually 1/3 of an inch smaller

As for the drop,... that'll have to wait until I drop the cash for coilovers, which won't be anytime soon. The car is my daily driver and I takes spirited jaunts down some hole filled roads on my way to work. Sorry if offend anybody that's running springs for a drop,... but springs on an Evo just F-up your handling unless you have the hard to find Ralliart springs which only drop you half an inch,... otherwise you've rendered your Evo weaker. I don't care if you say,.. "Ohh it feels like it's holding the road so much better." If anybody is saying this and running any of the popular aftermarket springs then you haven't actually measured the performance, all you're feeling is the lowered center of gravity, nevermind that your car has very limited shock travel now and you're riding the bumpstops and that your spring balance f/r is backwards,... LOL

Sorry for the rant. Just been heavily studying suspension lately. I will move to coilovers sometime in the next year,.. when I get a daily beater. In the meantime I'm working on the best mod possible, the driver behind the wheel.

I LOVE THESE TIRES,...

Heading to RRC on Thursday for sway/bushings/and alignment,... should be fun.

hey, I saw you car at RRC today. Lookin' good!

After a trip to RRC yesterday I can say that I love this car now more than when I bought it. My suspension is stock with the exception of the rear arm bushings/ RRC sway bar/ and the Mueller treatment. I've been in Evos with coilovers that don't handle as well as mine does now. Now I'm debating wether the next chunk of cash I drop on it will be the quaife or the full treatment. I can say that the whole RRC crew is a bunch of great people. They really love their job. When John talks about his job he has that look in his eyes that little boys with a brand new firetruck have. Just watch out for that attack dog... LOL

If they got rid of bump steer, that means they are not as grippy as the Advans

I ran 255's no prob. Old Victoracers in the rain and the car was fine. No need to try and break any land speed records with them on in the rain though.

Thanks for the kind words, it was absolutely our pleasure to help you with your quest for improved handling.

Nope must be another reason, and they didn't get rid of it entirely, it's just the wheel doesn't attempt to free itself from my grasp on one particular bump in the middle of a particular turn I drive on frequently.

Tire companies size their tires differently.

So it could be that the Azeni 255 is a "narrower" 255.

Nope it's actually normal fatness. Section width is 10.3" on the Falken RT-615 255/40/17 compared to the BF Goodrich TA/KD at 10.2", Bridgestone Potenza S0-3 at 10.4", Kumho Ecsta MX at 10.3", Yokohama Advan Neova at 10.3", Yokohama AVS Sport at 10.2", etc.

So, suffice it to say it's not a particularly narrow or fat 255, it's spot-on with most other tires with that width.
