Did you know your stock hood...
The CF hood on my GSX was 13lbs, so it's pretty close to being the same weight as the stock Evo hood! I was considering a CF hood since I felt it made a difference on my GSX, but now I'll hold off for sure haha.
shockingly a CF hood is weighs more than the stock hood.

Yes, the OEM hood is very very light! That's why it's around $1,200.
The seibon carbon hood I have on my car I think is heavier.
After I get my Alu hood back from paint, it's going back on the car. The carbon one flutters at high speed.

The MR hood is real light along with the roof and trunk the rest of the evos have slightly heavier materials of aluminum as all states CF is for looks I think my MR hood weights closer to 14 lbs and a CF was like 17-18 depending on the hood.
Most CF hoods weigh the same or more than the stock hood.
BTW here's the weights for all models:
GSR: 3271lbs (with sunroof)
RS: 3181lbs
MR: 3296lbs
RS is 90lbs less than GSR
MR is 25lbs more than GSR
Subtract about 50lbs for the GSR if has no sunroof.

BTW: all of the GSR,RS,and MR have the same front end parts in Alu, there is no part number difference. I should know, since I was recently in a front ender.
Unfortunately almost all evolution CF products are for street/show. A real racing CF hood would cost way more than most buyers could afford. The used CF Seibon (fiberglass) doors I bought are pieces of junk. Heavy and poor craftsmanship. Hey but the fake carbon fiber skins look cool to kids. The weight of a real hand laid CF hood could go as low as 6 lbs. That's pushing it for strength, At that weight strength is minimal and a failure can happen if fasteners pull through. Usually when you hit 150mph in traffic heading down a straight. A friend built them for factory BMW M3 race cars and he increased the weight to 8lbs after the lighter hood failed. There is no performance benefit replacing the aluminum hood that Mitsubishi engineered correctly. The only reason to purchase a cheap CF (fiberglass) hood would be if you could not afford the expensive stock aluminum for a repair reason. Same goes for replacing those very costly fenders.
