ATTN EVO owners with powdercoated wheels....
I have been taking my time painting my wheels, but it hasn't come out the way I wanted it to. I think the outside temp is playing a big role into this. I've sanded my wheels numerous times and painted them numerous times to get them right and its just not happening.
I have a buddy that will sandblast and powdercoat my wheels whatever color I want for $150. He does really good work. The only thing is I want to make sure that the heating temp doesn't mess my wheels up. I've heard horror stories of rims breaking and such, but Ive never heard any stock EVO rims doing this.
How are your wheels holding up? I've pretty much ruined my stock wheels and this is my only choice in getting them looking the way I want them to.

Here is a picture of my wheels. Black on Tarmac. Professionally done by a company that has done wheels for years. They know the safe temp ranges. I have a picture of my rear wheel in the air on the track. Just as strong as stock. Ray

Yeah, I remember reading about some wheels cracking, but I think it's because they took it to places that didn't have the proper machinery to do it. Apparently, the machine to bake it needs to reach certain tempatures and if it's done wrong, it will crack.

Thanks for the pic.
Those look VERY good, but I think my rims are far past being repainted again. I couldn't tell you how long I've spent just trying to sand these wheels to make them look smooth as those in the pic. I think its just too cold now and the paint isn't sticking like it should.
The guy that is powdercoating my rims showed me all kinds of colors to choose from. I can get my wheels looking just like the ones in the pic above. Painting the Mistu symbols make the wheels look 100 times better IMO. Those actually look like aftermarket wheels.

THose looks good. I think I might just go with a gloss black and get the Mitsu symbol painted red. I think that would look good on my car with the tinted windows, black headlights, and the c/f lip when I put it back on.
