Question Head Unit Wiring Harness

I got this from Best Buy:

Before I solder it to the radio's wiring harness, is this the correct thing?

I do *not* have the SSL evo, it is a base VIII.

Not sure probably ~$15 - 20 or somewhere in that range.

Thanks for the answers all ... I'll wire it up this week.

What kind of HU did you get? Should've went to Circuit City to get a reverse harness as well. It makes it so you basically don't have to cut anything!

Head unit is an older Panasonic with a remote that has been in a closet collecting dust for a while. Since I don't like the way the stock head unit looks I am replacing it. Only issue with the new one is it is blue at night time ... so it won't fit with the cars red/amber theme. I don't feel like shelling out for a new one just to get the color to match, though.

I'll post a picture once it is in the car ... it will probably be a while, though.

I had no idea you could buy a reverse wiring harness to make everything plug and play, that is really cool.

You could have gotten a deck plug to universal plug and universal plug to car harness plug. Then you don't need to splice/crimp or solder anything. Total plug and play!

you payed 18.49 for that harness, hahah. yes thats the right harness. lol, he meant a direct connect harness. and yes it makes it a lot easier, but more expensive. just remember mitsubishi doesnt have a ground! Good luck!

OK, one question about the SSL system, is there a wiring harness for the speaker output connector on the stock amp? I'm replacing the head unit and amp, but I don't want to cut the stock connector that has all the speaker wires.

Thanks.

to tell you the truth i havent pulled apart the new evos with the ssl system to see how they are all hooked together. i doubt you can just use a harness because you might have a problem of back feeding your new HU back to your stock amp and frying out everything including your hu and your factory amp. but it depends how the factory amp is set up. im not sure of without seeing one of the set ups. sorry.

haha, i paid $2.73 for my harness!

There is a grounding wire present on the radio's harness I believe ... it has a little metal ring at the end. What do I do with that?

You can ground that too a bolt that is in the radio cavity

If you DO have a stock amp in your car; connect the Blue/White wire on your aftermarket HU to the solid Blue wire on the harness you got from Best Buy.

If you do not connect these two together, you will not have sound.

If you have these two connected and do not have sound, you have to by-pass your factory amp. If you have to do that, let us know. There's a "few" more steps you have to do then.
