The Evolution of my Evo IX..... so far.
The Evolution of my Evo IX..... so far.
Well Ive abused the hell out of this thing for 8400 miles now. Driving everyday up and down the 18 from the IE to Lake Arrowhead, and a few times a week down the backside of the 138 to the High Desert. Ive never raced it or taken it to the track, although I have launched it probably 4 or 5 times. And if I remember correctly all 4 wheels have been off the ground a few times.
Now, if any of you have ever driven in the area that Im speaking of you know how quickly certain items wear, especially under "spirited" driving conditions. So at 8k miles the stock advans, which had been rotated once at 4k miles needed to be replaced. I probably could have gotten another 2-3k miles out of them but with rain coming in and the possibility of snow, I didnt want to risk it.
After reading reviews and talking to a couple of friends I decided on the Pirelli P6 4Season. I know of certain issues people have had on these tires, but so far so good, and I have been impressed with both their dry and wet traction capabilities.
I also replaced both the front and rear braked pads with OE pads and got and alignment (wich was pretty bad, Ill post the sheet later). They were getting loud and would have needed to be replaced within 1k miles.
In the mean time Tuning Technologies added an Apexi SAFC-2 and a Dejon MBC, and the car spent about and hour on the dynojet. I wont go into numbers until I can post the dyno sheet, which unfortunatly I left at home.
And finally, I added a Cobra radar detector, hard wired so I could still use my cig. lgither; A pioneer AVH-P5700 in dash DVD with 6.5" touchscreen and NO nav. Added to the trunk was an Infinity REF311A 300w sub amp, and 2 Infinity REF1242W 12" subs in a sealed enclosure. All in all, after being tuned, this set-up sounds pretty good, even with the stock speakers.
MORE PICS COMING SOON. oh and sorry if the pics suck they were taken from my phone. Bring on the compliments and the flames
although im thinking mostly flames.

Man, you should have gotten some Falken Azenis Rt-615's 255/40/17. Those are the best tires to get next to the Advans. I have these, and they're an awesome tire.
As for the aligenment, alot of EVO's come from the factory with bad alignment. It's probably what caused your tires to wear so quickly.
Congrats on the new IX!

bling it out with speakers? i dont think a properly tuned sound system (which is what im working on) is bling. Im not looking to race or auto-x or anything like that. I drive ALOT of miles and enjoy good sound.

Holy crap that's a lot of miles for only having the car two months. Although if I had one, I don't think I woudl not want to drive it either.
