Moving Climate Controls

Well, I figured I'd start a thread, I posted a couple pics a while ago in another thread, but I got tired of waiting for kits to come out so I figured I'd try and move everything myself. How hard could it be right?

*UPDATE*
Didn't have time to wire it up but the CPU is mounted under the seat. Here's some pics of that. Hopefully can get everything running tomorrow. Will continue to update.

*END UPDATE*

I got the touchscreen installed and the carPC came in today. I will be installing that on Thursday. Will post more pics when finished. Still waiting on the sticker for the climate controls but the CF bezel is done and everything is pretty much complete.

New pics

Well, I got the climate controls moved down to the lower cubby, here's a couple pics of that.

All it needed was a faceplate. Today in the mail came a sheet of carbon fiber 11"x9"x0.041". Well after a lot of dremeling and patience I came up with this.

Just waiting on the new set of stickers to arrive from Lancershop and it goes on the car. 7" touchscreen should be here Jan 4. Car pc with built-in wireless, GPS, dvd burner, wireless keyboard, etc should be here Jan 9.

Woot!!!!

I'll update and things progress.

Thanks for the post. There are a couple other posts about this, but none with good "open" pics. I think I'm going to do this too, and I'm diggin' the CF cover idea. MachV has a bunch of CF sheets in stock Can't wait to see the finished pics...

instead of reusing the oem climate control units, would it be possible to use another unit? im thinking of using the climate controls from the 3rd gen eclipse since it has smaller knobs and will fit. will it be plug and play with that or will i go through a lot of trouble?

I've been trying to figure out the way to set up a PC in my car. I'm curious on how you're setting yours up.

Did you figure out a way to put the CPU behind the touchscreen or are you gonna put it under your seat? Since you said PC, I'm assuming you didn't settle with the Mac Mini. But that's the only small form factor computer I know of that has bluetooth, wireless, dvd burner off the box. Mind telling me which computer you settled on? I'm still deciding between the Mini or a laptop that has a video out. Others I haven't ruled out yet include the Shuttle barebones, and there's another one but I can't remember the manufacturer right now. I'm not even sure I can set up the touchscreen monitor. I'm really interested in knowing how you plan on setting this up. Please throw me a PM or reply here.

Thanks.

I purchased the computer from this website, you can have it built to order. Another good place to buy one is here. The computer is the M250 built to my specs. The screen I got from xenarc and it's a 700TSV. All the screen needs is the driver which comes with it. Should be pretty simple. If you have any more questions let me know.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Seems I was going about it the wrong way. Didn't know they made CPUs specifically for cars.

thanks again.

Your setup is turning out great. I can't wait to see it with the stickers and stuff completed. I decided that I'm going to wait on that "other" lower thing... but I really like your setup.

I'm hoping you'll have a review for the carPC soon. I'm trying to decide how I should go about this. Did you get the screen and everything from logisysus? I'm pretty excited to run my PLX datalogging right to the screen I would assume too that you can get an OBDII logger and run it right into the carPC to monitor timing and stuff real time.

This is gonna be great!
