Pics: UK-Style badging on IX MR! ::sizzle::

Hey everybody. I thought that some of y'all might be interested in seeing pics of my shiny new Graphite Gray 2006 EvoIX. I just got the UK style badges put on (my first 'mod').

NOTE: I realize that these exact badges are not OEM in either the UK or Japan, but this is what I wanted and this is what I have.

So, without further ado, here they are!

Looking good, but I prefer it a little lower. But, it's your car and whatever floats your boat is cool.

Looks fantastic, and I like this badge setup way more than oem setup!

Yeah, I just looked at yours. Looks great too! I think both heights look so similar, only Evo enthusiasts will notice. I almost went with just the "EVOLUTION" letters, but decided for more flash.

Did you recently debage the bottom left part of the trunk? I'm pretty sure it was your evo that I saw. If it was yours, it looks better without all the badges. This looks very clean.

Congrats on the new car by the way. My first mod was a tint though.

I did the removal/install all at the same time. I'm actually in the Los Angeles area (South Bay/Torrance). You're in NorCal, right?

I DO like the complete de-badging. Anything is better than the USDM badges (why two different fonts!?).

Eventually I might replace the "EVOLUTION" letters with the 2006 versions. These letters are like the VIII. If you look closely, they did a re-design for the 2006 UK market. More angular. BUT, finding a matching "IX MR" will be difficult, if not impossible.

BTW, tint comes next.

Your badge is way too low, and IMO doesnt look good so close to the crease in the trunk. Galvitron has it placed in the proper location about and inch from the crease.

Galvitron whats the deal with all these people w/ out any plates in cali? So many new cars that the state cant make plates fast enough??

I placed mine between 2/3 and 3/4 inches up from the crease. It is hard to ACTUALLY measure the crease as it is rounded. Therefore there is no perfect way to define the exact position of the crease (without advanced engineering tools, that is). I just moved my guideline up and down within an eighth of an inch until it looked good to me.

I simply relied on the common consensus of other Evo owners who presumably built up info from Japanese or UK Evo owners (speculation).

And I personally don't think the lower badges look bad. In fact, I think they look good! Just not exactly what I wanted.

Cheers,

Galvinator McGee

I don't know what's up with the plates...DMV is slooooow in Cali! I don't mind the dealer plate though. This way, everybody knows it's spankin' new!

personally i think the badge is weird looks too long....i noticed your license plate....i was driving through westminster for a couple days last week and passed by the huntington beach mitsu. saw 3 evo 9s and got to test drive one... hey nick i asked the same thing to my cousin and he told me that in cali they don't issue temporary plates so you can see brand new cars w/o license plates
