Swapping mesh from stock to CF hood
Swapping mesh from stock to CF hood
has anybody swapped over the stock black mesh in the vent to their CF seibon hood. if so could someone give me some pointers, trying to figure where to connect it to. thanks
same thing with me i've got the seibon and it's totally open where the mesh(what it came with) is...so water gets in when it rains..
i tried to put the vent from my evo 7 hood on it..but it seems like i may have to drill new holes into the vent for it to work.

well that's weird...mine has mesh, and rain guards. the mesh is made into the hood though, it can't be removed like on the stock hood. the rain guard isn't as sturdy as stock, and for some reason there aren't any slits cut in it like the stock piece. it'll keep rain out, but it looks like it'll keep all the heat in with no slits in the rain guard so i'm gonna transfer the stock piece. the bolts for that seem to line up.

www.deftracing.com hoods do not have the mesh made in the hood and mesh can be removed...

Took 10 minutes maybe... now that I think about it, to get the pattern from the vent to the Seibon hood I but a dab of blue paint on each bolt, put it in place, then had guides for where to drill the holes. If you're not confident in your abilties, just take it to a body shop.
i did it for my seibon hood... its not impossible... what i did was took the stock vent... remove the aftermarket grill... mount the stock vent with the aftermarket rainguard that it came with and lined it up... drill holes for the bolts and bolt the stock vent to aftermarket rainguard.... i hope im making sense...it works and fits perfectly...
since the aftermarket hood vent is bigger than the stock one...mount stock mesh vent to aftermarket one takes alot of measuring...
and one more thing... when u bolt the stock mesh vent to aftermarket rainguard... it blocks the vent totally... i think it defeats the purpose of the hood... air suppose to come in from the bumper and out the vent... i think i'll have to cut out around the rainguard to let air flow through...just a tip
