Well...simply put, Durian is a fruit: a big, green thorny fruit. But wait, it is not just another exotic and expensive fruit from South East Asia. Richard Sterling, as quoted in The Travelling Curmudgeon, says: "... its odor is best described as pig-sh*t, turpentine and onions, garnished with a gym sock. It can be smelled from yards away. Despite its great local popularity, the raw fruit is forbidden from some establishments such as hotels, subways and airports, including public transportation in Southeast Asia."

I like to think it smells like rotten garbage,and tastes like ice cream. Until the smell over powers the taste . It took me 3 YEARS to get used to the smell enough to not open all the windows when my wife gets one. She made me eat a whole section so I could get my exhaust, I almost puked I can nibble a small piece now. Actually the best way to describe it is , it taste like an awesome fruit, that is going rotten in your mouth within seconds believe it or not, it's a delicasy. my wifes family just calls it stinky fruit
