Evo and Supra at NIGHT
Everyone has their opinion.
I'd think that I would know these cars better than anyone on this forum. Yeah, I've owned Supras for almost 7 years now. I've had 3 of them. I also had an NSX and 3000GT (POS).
All of you saying you would've kept the Supra, well that's your opinion. Why don't you quit talking and just go out and buy one? I've posted these pictures on a number of forums, and I've had nothing but polite, respectful comments. On here it's quite the opposite. Now I remember why I hated this forum in the first place.
Let me dispel the Supra myth. Yes, they are great cars. I may own another in the future. They have tremendous potential for hp numbers. They are solid and reliable. They have tremendously good brakes. Great build quality and interior. They're rare and good looking. They're also very heavy, grip well but don't really offer any driver feedback in the handling, have very vague steering feel, are front biased and oversteer, are plagued with turbo lag and traction problems if you want big numbers, need race gas for big numbers on stock twins, are expensive to maintain and insure, and last but not least... for its day, the chassis was amazing, but nowadays is outdated. On top of this you get a moderately high mile Supra with a lot of years on it and you're looking at a lot of money to get it up to original specs. Especially replacing suspension parts and wear parts like bushings.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great car, but it seems like all the internet racers think it's this nearly perfect car. Far from it.
The Vette isn't perfect either. It falls where the Supra succeeds: build quality, interior, rareness. They're both very reliable cars. They're both fun to drive.
The Z06 is in another league. I've owned the Supra enough to realize this. You park the Supra next to some Ferraris, you feel out of place. You park the Z06 next to some ferraris, you feel like it's met some older brothers (of course if the owners aren't ******). The light weight, the front midship layout, the weight distribution, the racecar technology, the amazing powerband, the suspension and handling... everything is in a class above the Supra. All those years of Supras, I got bored of them. Got bored of the handling. What would I keep it for, the rare factor? Attention? I don't buy cars for anyone else but myself. Maybe I'll have one again.
Woah, I've written too much. You all get the point. Plus my Supra was an auto. If it had been a 6-spd like my previous I may have never even test drove the Z06.
