I purchased my 03 Evo 8 when I was 16 and have payed every monthly payment until now. I have loved every minute of it, it is true that a lot of young people these days are immature and ruin the respect that some of young drivers deserve. The only reason I was able to purchase my Evo was because I have raced stock cars (Pro Challenge Series) my whole life, and saved up enough money to afford it. Just be smart, take it easy, and enjoy every minute of your new car!

^^^ Definitely do this.

Oh and the EVO is a very capable drag car, but I would explore everything the car has to offer... Such as autocrossing or going to your local track for a HPDE or track day. I promise you this car has a lot to offer. BTW thats the color MR I plan on getting later this year. Gorgeous.

Welcome.

Nice evo, welcome to the ranks of a young evo owner... I think its probably a good that your learning with the evo's stock clutch...it sounds like your going to mod the evo neway, so a new clutch will be in your future regardless...oh yeh DONT RIDE THE CLUTCH...in the evo you will def. be able to smell it. A great way to understand how well equipped your evo really is, is to go to AutoX or do a driving school. Even though may think the evo is a turd on the straights, you will see how fast it can be on a track! (also that will help w/your rev matching downshifts & other helpful driving tips). Enjoy it, and keep us updated!

^^ I guess I should just put +1 on the AutoX comment on before me my bad...

When i had my SI, every moded civic/mustang/integra etc would wanna race me. With the Evo you might see some knuckle heads trying to to do the same. Remember that you drive an awesome matchine and you dont need to proove anything!
Enjoy the car!
lol, I had a 99 Civic Si when I was 19. Got me an Evo now only a year later

true. i'm 22 and i bought my evo 100% myself. that fact is so much more rewarding and you get to appreciate what you've earned. when i was 18, all i could afford was a civic hatchback, and earned enough money to do a type r swap and complete ctr exterior changeover. but i guess once you've been raised with money, it's kinda hard to appreciate the little things like working hard to earn it yourself.

I got my 2005 evo with SSL at 20 years old by myself also, well my 21 year old GF co signed it but i put 6k down and made the 585$ monthly payment for over a year until i got rid of it for a G35 coupe. I'm losing my license and need to pay off some other debt so I got this car as something to cruise around in for the next few years so I can eventually save up and get a house and then i'll build another car...

Don't sweat it man, you don't have to prove anything to anyone. Its good you actually worked hard to save the money up, but realize that the reason you were able to keep all that money just for a down payment on a nice car is simply because all your other needs were taken care of by your folks. A lot of people have to work hard jobs just to take care of their basic needs and drive beaters.
