JDM 9 bumper, USDM crashbar

Hi guys. Well, I've finally broken down and admitted my love for the EVO outweighs my loyalty to my suby ( so plans of trade comming soon.) In the meantime, I thought I'd get an idea of how many people would be interested in a JDM style, US crashbar complaint rear bumper in the EVO IX style. It will either be fiberglass with CF diffuser, or CF completely.
I don't know the measurements ( if someone knows the clearance difference for the US spec bar, please let me know so I have an idea of what I'm working with.)

We pride ourselves in our work, and will do the best to keept it as close to authentic as possible.

I'm not saying these are for sale, if we go through with it, it will probably be at least a couple months (2-3) before these will be available for sale. We're just getting intial numbers to see if multiple units will be made (We're making one no matter what for my car, and my brothers, Since the US spec one doesn't match the new front, and we're just as concerned as most of you on keeping the stock crash equipment.)

If you're interested, please do so, and tell me whether fiberglass and CF, or plain CF ( average cost, I don't even know at this time for either one.)

The diffuser will possibly be vacuum infused, since we like the results we've gotten with it so far, though it is a very tricky and expensive process. Also let me know if you're interested in this process ( it'll be added cost unfortunately, but ultra light weight and rigid.)

Thanks guys( and girls), let me know.

Sounds interesting... The three things I'd be looking for are:
1) OEM-quality fitment
2) Weight equal or less than the current Evo "VIII" bumper
3) Must look fairly similar to the JDM EVO IX bumper

Thanks,

Only thing I dont like is a fiberglass bumper if someone taps it your done... The bumper I would think could look similiar but it will have to stick out farther than what the jdm 9 does

will consider it, but I don't know about the polyurethane . As far as fitment goes, it looks to me that the USDM bumper sticks out maybe an inch or so wider, so I think with the straight down appearance of the JDM one, it should look really close ( I'm sure the trained eye will see the difference, but I doubt it'll be that bad honestly.)

Yea, I understand, if you're racing your car, the lighter JDM bar is a good idea, but for the rest of is, the insurance risks and such, I'd rather stick with the USDM one so I know I'm good in case of the worst.

The weight should deffinately be lighter no matter what it's made of ( there are so many poor aero aftermarket companies out there that just make really heavy pieces, they use to many materials in the contruction to keep the strength up, when it can retain its strength as long as the quality of the materials and constryction process is better.)We'll do the best we can to make it as light and as strong as possible

Like I said, I'm going ahead with it for my own within the next month or 2, and when it's finished I will be sure to show some nice high quality photo's for everyone to see, so if enough of you like it, I'll make sure to make more.

If anyone else is interested, plese let me know ( still just getting an idea.) Thanks

I might be interested if it is lightweight and possibly urethane. I like the idea of keeping the usdm crashbar.

I would be interested in the all C/F or the fiberglass with C/F diffuser. I think that would be awesome. I think the fiberglass with C/F diffuser would look awesome. I have the TB and unless you make the diffuser C/F then it doesn't look as good as the other colored Evo's with the diffuser.

I agree. I live in Long Beach, CA... the land of parellel parkers who bump your car all the time. A fiberglass bumper wouldn't last a month here.

I'm still scared as hell of someone tapping the pointy nose of my Evo IX with their bumper one of these days. Its not going to be pretty IMO.

interested as well. quality would have to be top notch though. i don't mind it not being "jdm" as long as it looks more aggressive and the diffuser actually functions. the usdm crashbar thing is very important to many people simply for insurance reasons.

im afraid of aerodynamic knock offs because they could cause weird things at high speeds, image this rear diffuser actually producing lift at high speeds and cause instability?

same with the vortex generator and front bumpers.. or am I being paranoid?
