Painting Oil Catch Pans.
Painting Oil Catch Pans.
i recently got myself the weapon R oil catch pan (mainly because i liked how it fit inside the front strut tower brace).
but it's a little shiny for my liking. i was hoping to paint it more of a metal flake gray to match the strut tower brace.
here's my plan.
scuff up the smooth stainless steel finish with a brillo pad and a mild abrasive like comet.
primer, wet sand.
paint with a high heat paint (i was thinking maybe the kind they use on brake calipers). wet sand, repeat.
does this sound reasonable? and what kind of clear coat should i use? is there a special high heat clear coat? (i don't think it will be recieving all that much heat in the engine bay, but just to be on the safe side should i use a clear coat rated for high heat?).
i've never attempted anything of this sort, so please be kind if my plan is silly.
