Head unit integrated gauges?

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good way to integrate gauges into a LCD stereo head. I want to start tuning my new Evo, but first I need to know what is going on inside. I do not want to have to add extra gauges because I want a stock appearence. I figure if I can take care of gauges and gps all in one unit then that is less clutter. I searched the forums and found how to do it with an in-car PC, but I rather just have it on the stereo screen, and there was nothing posted newer than 2004 that I found on the subject. So if anyone has any suggestions, I would appriciate it.

Thanks

Unless you can find a unit that gathers all of the data and then displays it via an NTSC/Pal interface your kind of on your own.

OK, so i found a couple things that might work, but I need to know what type of ECU we have (at least that is what i think i need to know ) so... does anyone know if the 2006 Evos are CAN or RS232? or if not one of those, what it is? and is this the type of ECU or is it the type of conector or what? I am so lost lol

Could you provide links to what you have found?

I am not sure about the ECU you may want to check out the free ecu tuning software section and then head over to their website for more detailed info about the ecu.

Whatever you are looking at you would also want to be able to use external sources for your monitoring as most of the sending units are better than the ones from the factory.

giving up for now

OK so none of the race setups i found will do what i want (like you see in formula 1 on the steering wheel). so i am just going to buy one of the hand held ones and have my electronics guru wire in an output. If it works i will try to get him to let me post a how to. I am going to write to a few companies and sugest they make one though...

If you're serious about an F1-style setup I'd invest in AEM or Autronic engine management along with an AiM Sports MXL.
