i heard that if you want to wash down your engine with a hose engine cleaner, you can, but you need to have the engine running and cover any exposed wires/cables that aren't protected, i have never tried this, but people i know that work at toyota and acura told me that is what they do (one is a tech and the others are lot attendants).

Simple concept, just cover your fuse box. Most everything else, if water could get in, then it probably wouldnt work right in the first place....

I have hosed mine off several times. Try not to get caried away with the water. Make sure the motor is cool and try to stay away from the fuse box. All things in the engine bay should be atleast water resistant. I also let my car dry before I drive it. Hope that helps.

A hose will be fine. I've sprayed all the nasty parts with simple green and rinsed it. Avoid anything electrical.

Make sure it is cool and also try to mop up the majority of water you can find. After that I leave the hood up to help it dry. I also start it and let it run for a while with the hood up so any water that may be left evaporates and doesn't turn into condensation under the hood or in places it may cause issues.

The way I do mine is cover all the electronic components, and your air filter if its an open cone filter. Spray engine cleaner all over the engine and sourrounding areas. Leave on according to the brand you get. Hose off.

BTW, just using a spray cleaner and rag will do absolutely nothing for the engine bay. You need to use one of those engine cleaners you hose off to effectively get the bay clean.

Simple green is a very effective all purpose cleaner. Similar to fantastic or formula 409, but simple green works better than those.

Well...from the factory, there is a pretty large hole in the hood. So, I would have to assume that everything under it is water resistant.
