Lowering the Stock Recaro Seat
I figured I'd post this here for the guys who don't read the other areas.
I made myself some brackets to lower my seat over a month ago. They are awesome and greatly improve the driving position for track use and such. I posted it in EVO General and started having people ask about them. So I made some more to help others in my same position (wanting a lower seating position for the stock seats).
These brackets lower the stock Recaro drivers seat 1.5 inches, which is the max possible on the stock sliders. Great for tall people, or track guys. They mount to the factory sliders and lower the seat over an inch.
Included:
- 4 lowering brackets for the stock Recaro drivers seat.
- All mounting hardware
- Instructions
PM me for details.
A disclaimer for the motorsports guys. If you run a harness eyelet in the stock buckle location you will need to create a little clearance in the tunnel of the car with a hammer. It's pretty minor and takes 1 min. But I want you to know about it. The seats are so low that the eyelet will rub on the center tunnel without work. It is also possible, depending on the size of the eyelet that it will interfere with the new bracket, and require a little filing. The other option is to move the eyelet to one of the mounts under the armrest on the center tunnel itself. This gets rid of all the problems - you just have to remove the armrest to use the harness.
Anyway, a HARNESS WILL WORK with these it just requires a small amount of work on your part. My harness works, as well as others.

Here are some pics of the difference in seat height. The drivers seat is lowered 1.5 inches with the brackets I made. The passenger seat is stock. I know it's not a perfect angle for direct comparison - but it's better than nothing.
I'll have brackets for the passenger seat ready tomorrow, and there are still a few for the drivers. Basically I have a couple "complete" sets still available.
