Sorry I should have specified that I would not be attempting this myself! I would obviously seek the help of a professional, but I was kind of just wanting to know what would have to be done in order to do this properly. I doubt this is a thing that is requrested very often.

This is how I want the exhaust to look.





As you can see 90% of the canister and tip are a very strong blue. I notice that Stephen's exhaust has some fading, but I think if I could get it a deep color like this it would not fade so easily. Anyway... does anyone really think this could be done by a professional. I'm starting to think that GTP is probably right about how these things are treated before construction... but it would be cool

How about other options like blue Ti canisters??? Derek any links???

ive heard that if it is not burnt you can manually do it. But I dont think it would turn out as good as from factory.

Why do the Amuse exhausts have to be 1000 more than all the other exhausts

 

They burn the pipe before they cut it... they cut it after because when its burnt there is alot of brown burnt pipe which you don't want and only a small section of the blue which then fades into other colors... I have no idea how they make so much of the pipe blue though.. i looks like they burn one part and anodize the rest?

 

There was another thread about this a while ago. I'm pretty sure the only way to get this cobalt blue coloring like Amuse is to heat it and quench it in oil. Getting the coloring and the distance of the effect to be consistent is going to be very hard.

I also have to think it would ruin the heat treating of the metal making it much softer than normal.

I'm sure some people have tried that "anodizing in a can" which has to look like crap.

I dont know about the Ti blue canisters... maybe only in stainless steel. in order to weld the Ti canister doesnt the rest of the piping need to be in Ti as well?

afteR my last track day... my HKS Ti tip is now all purple then goes into the blue tip that it came with. Guess it's all in the heat thats thrown at it which makes the colors come out the way they do.

 

Can't any company just step up and make exhausts that are anodized >.<

Derek: I would be purchasing a Ti exhaust system if I were to buy a Ti canister obviously... This is looking to be a lost cause though...

Please refer to the picture I posted on the first post of this page... I don't want a "rainbow" exhaust I like the Amuse blue/purple style.

Apexi does not make exhausts that look like the Amuse blue gradiation models... They do have a burnt tip but again I want a look that is a bit more unique.
