My Evo!!

Hello all,
I just bought her a week ago, and got an amazing deal on it (at least I feel that I did). Its a 2003 with 33k miles, and I picked her up for 19k. Clean title and everything, but what frustrates me is that I dont know when the last time it was maintained (Im not sure if they took it in for the 30k mile maintenance check). Of course I went ahead and changed the oil and checked the fluids and what not, but when I walked into the dealership to get a history of last time it was maintained, they say they dont carry records of that (weird?). Anywho, tell me what you guys think. I have no plans of modding the engine this early, but looking to black out the headlights and taillights first.

A couple questions. The tint is illegal from what the guy at the inspection said(on there before I bought it), but I was wondering if there was a way for me to find out what the percentage is myself. Like does it say what percentage it is on the window itself, because I cant seem to find it? Also, the car came with Toyo Proxes, and Im trying to see how good these tires are? I havent had any problems with them so far, but they are low on thread so I will be looking for some new ones soon. But if people were to say the Proxes are horrible, then maybe I would need to switch em out a little earlier haha.

For the tint I would take to a place that does tint and just ask them what % it is. I sure they would help you out

I haven't seen any tint that says the % on it. Company percentage is different but from the pictures it looks close to limo (5%) not sure though. I'd imagine some tint shop would know by looking at it maybe swing by a local tint shop and ask.

I would just keep the Toyo's and finish them off. Your going to be buying plenty of other stuff later. Then again it depends how worn they are. But if its still safe to drive, keep them!

Better safe then sorry! The dealership where it was serviced should have the records. IIRC they are required to keep some sort of records for a set amount of time before they can toss it. Maybe they didn't or couldn't release it to another person? No idea whats up there but doesn't seem right unless the previous owner didn't even service it there.

Well yea, the car is originally from San Antonio and Im in Houston. So the person definitely did not service it at the same dealership, but I guess I just hoped theyd have a computer record of every time the car is brought in. Ohh well, Ill have to research around and call some dealerships in San Antonio to see if they have paper records with them.

A carfax should show maintenance if it was at a dealer, mine all showed up when they printed it out for me.

As for the tint, best bet is to go to a shop. Either way the fronts look too dark. You may end up having to take them off to get the sticker unless you know someone. Get the fronts re-done and leave the rears as they are.

Toyo tires are fine for me in MA driving around winter and summer so I wouldn't worry too much.

love the car looks very clean. +1 on what everyone is saying fro the tints to go to a local shop. Is the car stock? If it is, then i would just go with a set of the oem advan's. very good tire, but dependeing on how hard you drive on them, they can wear out pretty fast. but they are incredible tires. Any plans for the future with it?

Yea, its bone stock. One thing I noticed (and you can see it in the first pic), the previous owner tried to do SOMETHING with painting a grill or something, because theres black marks on the grill/intercooler and theres even small black marks on the edge of the car! (near the intercooler). Im soo hesitant to mod the car because I was at the dealership and they were telling me how many things void the warranty, so I might wait till my engine warranty runs out? If nothing is modded to the car, could I still get it tuned or something to that nature to make sure its still running at stock boost or would that be a waste if its completely stock?

Ditto on the shop thing for tint. I know the 5-0 here in the Twin Cities has this little gadget that they slam on your windows when they pull you over. Its a small rectangle with a slot on the top. It is slid over your window and it shoots light through to the other side. then it gives a read out of what percent tint you have, (happened to me with my old Porsche 928). If the Coppers got something like that a tinit shop should to.
