Wind Visors

Can someone please tell me what the deal is with these. I understand the purpose and how they actually do work and deflect the wind, but i have always thought that they were very "south of the border.." to be put in a nice way. Every gardener truck here in southern california has them, and when i go to an Evo meet, my car is the only one without them! at MOD06, the majority of everybody had them. Are they JDM yo or what?

haha thanks..

I've wondered this too...I thought it was so you could have the windows down in foul weather or when smoking. Other than that, i dont know. They look clean on white Evos tho

You can crack your windows and drive hard and not hear the wind as deafning vs if u never had .. can also crak your windows in a light drizzle and not get wet ..

You can also just use the vent/ A/C /heater for ventilation and still have a clean looking exterior...

i understand the purpose, but it seems like its a styling trend, reguardless if you smoke or cant afford to "waste gas" by having your A/C on all the time. I just don't get it. I'm starting to like them on Evo's but im trying to talk myself out of them simply due to the fact that they look way gardener style.

A better alternative to rear window vents.

Yup, air passes through it and keeps water and dust away.. Its purpose is to decompress the cabin while the roof scoop sucks in air.

I totally agree with you man. I was actually gonna post a thread about this as well but you beat me to the chase. I really don't understand the popularity in them either, just makes the evo look cluttered and tasteless. There are probably some people out there that are convinced that the visors improve aerodynamic stability Is it JDM? Hell no. Just seems like a bandwagon mod that people do when they run of ideas of what to put on their car. Some people forget that less is more and you don't need every single exterior modification available to make your car look good.

personally all the Evo IX's need are the JDM headlights/tailights for IX's (the amber turn signals) and the car is perfect!

Well I have them and I like em. I think they look good on GG. And they do come in handy when you want to crack the window open a bit, but to be honest I got them for the looks.

Other than those, I have a VG and that's it...not too cluttered. Hey if you like em or not, I don't give a crap...I like 'em.

I got them from Lancer shop, but afterwards I found them way cheaper here:

Do you do a lot of racing/rally? Why would you add these and why add a roof scoop?

Let me clarify.....I know what they are used for, but why did YOU add them to your car?

I do road rally when i have the time. Is that a sin? When people add canards or splitter do all of them do time attack events?
It's just a window vent insert that you can put on and off in less than 5 seconds.
