All cars have clear coats it keeps the car from looking like chalk.

Good lordy, once again the biggest myth rears is ugly head back in the forums. I am going to answer this in very simple terms. Yes your car has clearcoat, just not in the way you think. It is what is called SINGLE STAGE paint. Color and Clear all in one process. When you do go and wash your car, and even if you buff your car, or even if you wipe your hand down it, you will prolly see white color on your hand/washmit/woolpad/foampad or whatever touches your paint. This also applies to the 03-?(could be just 03-04 maybe 05 and 06 too) Red Evo's as well. Do not be alarmed its just single stage paint. In simple terms, color and clear( the shiny part) all in one step. BC CC is a two step process or 2 stages of paint. And of course tri coats(pearl whites or a lot of custom pearls) are 3 stage. Hope this answers your questions, and correct me if I am wrong but has this question not been beat to death????(search button prolly could have answered this) Anyhoo feel free to wash wax your new ride and congrats on your new ride and enjoy it. Later

Wrong about all cars have clear coats, the white 89-91 Camrys were manufactured w/ no clear coat, what so ever. Thats why they are all Chalky.

If you have never had color come off then your car is not single staged, its BC CC. I was being a lil sacarstic, and ususally it will not just come off by rubbing with a washmit or your hand(however it will sometimes). Usually you need to "cut" it with something like a wool pad or a foam pad while you are buffing on it(not sanding just buffing) and you will see color on your pad. Like I said before its just single stage paint is all. I have painted many many many lil jobs with single stage, so I know what I am talking about. And if the 05-06 RR have clear(bc cc) then I am sure the 05-06 WW would have clear on them too, Honestly I do not see why mitsu puts single stage on them to begin with, I guess to save money.
