The UK emblem also comes in gloss black and carbon fiber. I saw the carbon fiber on ebay and the black used to be stocked by various online retailers. None of these are OEM of course.
There are also two fonts. The VIII font has the word "EVOLUTION" differently than the IX, but it's very subtle. The real UK badges don't say "IX", just "EVOLUTION" so to get the "IX" you have to go aftermarket.

You can paint the emblems, but i really do not know how long they will stay looking really good. I am not trying to be negative, I just really do not know. They could look great forever, especially if you do not get all crazy with a powerwasher. I say take it to a paint shop and let them paint them, that would be your best bet for a long lasting finish. If you want to DIY, just get a GREY scotchbrite pad and wet sand them down till they are dull and no longer shiny and spray them any color you wish. You could also use 600 grit sand paper and wet sand it that way too, the grey scotchbrite is the same as 600grit as for as coarseness. If you go any finer then 600 you will see sandscratches in your finish so use 600 and you will be fine. Good luck man and I will do some tests on some old emblems I have laying around the shop and see what kind of results I get, and if they are good, I will PM you or post some pics. Later man

Oh yea, I forgot to meantion this, but something to be concerned about when painting plastic emblems is the paint itself eating the plastic. I do not think a rattle can is strong enough to corrode the plastic but the Uerathanes everyone paints with these days just might be. So do a lil tester section of your emblem before you start spraying the whole thing just to make sure its not going to eat it.

I painted mine with paint made for plastics. Sanded with 400 paper until there was nothing shiny left then spayed a few coats. Covered that with a few coats of clear matte finish for a flat look. Had them on for a month or so now with no problems.

i painted mine and it came out great. i sanded it down with 400 grit...just kinda scuffed it up to get the chrome off. then i wiped it down with some alcohol, then tack cloth. then i broke out the flat black krylon, and went to work. it came out perfect. the badge is actually going to outlive the trunk, because the trunk got chipped in an accident so now i'm getting a new one, and i have to go thru the badge painting alllll over again
