that's not completely true. it depends on the style of the hood, the way the hood is made (dry/wet carbon), and who made it. i know the seibon OEM hood weighs less than the stock hood. it's not by very much...maybe half a pound. not really worth the savings, but there are dry carbon hoods out there that weigh less than half what the stock one weighs. it's just up to you to decide whether it's worth it or not. everybody's got their own reasons for wanting carbon.
