well, one of us doesn't have any idea what you're talking about, but i'm not sure whether it's you or me.
the canards and the brake cooling ducts are two different things. you do know that, right?
incidentally, here's what the canards look like painted:

and if you poke around you'll see the cooling ducts, too. not quite sure how the two could be interchangable.
and before anyone asks, the canards were on the car as part of the dealer setup, along with everything else you see there. i wasn't really into those or the wing, honestly, but they were there, so i worked my deal around them. i wanted everything else exactly as it was.
the paint helps lots, i think. the flat black is kinda funny.
Are the canards offered from the dealer?
I ask this because it is not listed on the mitsu website as an option and I went to a dealership and no one knew what I was talking about. I have seen them for sale on vividracing and other places for like 300.

they have a set of canards at el cerrito mitsu, where i got my car, i just saw em in the display case when i was there last week. no idea what they're asking.
give a call- 510-992-2000, ask for randy the service mgr. nice guy, really into the cars and the aftermarket bits. they've got some other stuff there, too- the RMR column mount gauge pod, SS brake lines, HKS SSBOV (friggin GOURGEOUS piece of hardware, that thing is- i wanna mount it as a hood ornament)
they did great work on all my bits- top notch installs, with matching paint on the canards (see photos at link above)

We sell these. They're VERY heavy and stiff. I don't see them ever flexing or anything.
I like the look. I'm trying hard to get them reproduced in carbon fiber, but so far haven't found a maker who's willing to do it, given the small volumes.

We'll eventually have them on our shop car, either carbon fiber or body color.

Well I think it's amusing (and I'm just kidding around here) that anyone who owns an EVO with it's huge airfoil rear wing would make fun of the canards.
I do understand it's a preference thing though. If you look closely you will notice slight canards molded into the shape of the bumper already.
