Who painted their UK Badge?

The UK badges are really growing on me. I want to get one for my WW IX. Has anyone painted their badge black yet? What paint? Prep work? How is it holding up?

Thanks for any info.

i painted the hell out of mine. prep was easy. i sanded it down with 320grit sand paper, then wiped it down with rubbing alcohol, then tack cloth, then sprayed a few coats of Krylon Semi-Flat black paint, and let dry. it came out great, and i had no problems with it holding up for the time i had it on the car. i must have washed it 20-30 times with no problems.

the only thing that sucked was that i sold the CF trunk it was on in favor of a Chargespeed one, so i had to do the process alllll over again yesterday. the only thing i did differently this time was i started with 100grit sand paper first, then went over it with 320. i did this because starting with 320 takes forever because the shiny **** is hard to get off. i let it dry over night just to make sure it's okay, then used blue painter's tape to mount it. i'm gettin ready to go mount it in a lil while, once i do i'll take some pics.

just indoor/outdoor Krylon. i used the painter's tape to mark off the lines to center it, and to stick to the badge to put it on the trunk. i was afraid the clear strip that came with it would be too sticky and ruin the paint.

old setup (seibon cf trunk, improperly installed license bracket):

new setup (chargespeed trunk, properly installed bracket) awaiting the new badge:

I would use some sort of adhesion promoter so the paint actually sticks to the surface. You won't have to worry about it peeling off later.

it's not really needed with krylon. that stuff will pretty much stick to anything whether you want it to or not lol.
