Snowmants, if you get this size rim/tire, you'll definitely need a spacer, but the size of spacer will depend on the offset. I have a pretty big +40 offset, so I have to use huge 25mm spacers in the front (none in the rear). If you get the same rim with a +27 offset, then you only need a 12mm spacer up front, but then you may need a spacer in the rear. My suspension setup is the Vishnu/Gerrard-spec Ohlins that are based off the OHlins R&T with bushings, end links, 700f/900r Hypercoil springs, helper spring, camber plates, and top hats. It utilizes the stock sways, stock strut bar, and has tons of R&D on the shock dyno as well as track testing done by Paul Gerrard himself.

Hokiruu, I drive daily on my street alignment, then the night before an event, I switch to the race alignment. I only change the front, because the rear is much more difficult. With camber plates, changing the camber is a breeze as long as you mark the plates for each setting, and then I change the toe by using two 22mm wrenches to loosen the tie rod nut and then extend or retract the tie rod to get the toe right. I run 0 toe for the street and 1/16th out for racing, and it luckily came out to 2 full rotations of the tie rod for the camber change that I have. Remember that any change in camber requires toe to be re-done, so if I were to eventually go with more (or less) than -3.0 camber up front, my toe adjustment would also change. For now, 2 exact rotations makes it easy...

That's great that you can adjust the suspension so easily/quickly even without needing lots of expensive equipment. Your setup is the epitome of balance between practicality and performance.

Thank you, and I agree. I was patient and did not purchase any cheap component parts before deciding on a complete race suspension, and now I'm reaping the benefits and don't have any superfluous parts leftover that I have to get rid of (i.e. rear sway, strut tower bar, etc.).

Good to see you got some decent weather out there Warr. So how far ahead of you is the competition? Seeing how you are having so much fun out there man leeds me to ask is you drag anymore? I know a while back you said something along the lines of you found a new love in auto-xing. You need to get some pro shots done out there and post up....looks good though, hey is it just me or is that front right tire starting to go ?

My new love is actually road racing, but that doesn't begin until mid-March. I will be doing my first time trial competition on the 18th, so that's when the real fun begins. Auto-x is more fun than drag, but it's still just short-lived racing like drag. I only do it to hone skills for road racing and because the car is pretty competitive in its class (at least regionally). If I can win the 07 championship for my class, then it's good for the resume, but I also plan to attend Nationals to see if I can squeeze out a top 10 finish.

As far as how far I am behind the competition, I'm way ahead of my class locally (most are not fully prepped for SM), but I'm behind the top drivers overall by a little. Two months ago, I took first overall with second place being .6 seconds behind in index time, but this time I was 4th while being a whole 1.0 seconds behind the 1st place guy in index time. 1 full second is quite a lot, but I think this course was not well-suited for high HP - I wasn't able to go WOT more than once. So, maybe I can compete for top 5 overall in my region, and that will be good, because we have about 10 national champions in our region...

I will still hit the drag strip this year to see how the IX turbo does and eventually the BR FMIC, but I won't be competing.

The right front tire just was dirty - it's not cording, although it kinda looks like that. The tires are brand new, and they looked really good after both events, which is a testament to the alignment working well with the tires. The tires are not rolling over, so I'm in good shape.

Right on Warr. Its good to hear you are killing them out there. Sounds like you have asperations of going pro or (should we say it) turning commercial . That is awesome though man, hopefully the weather holds up out there and everyone here sees alot more of you on the Show and Shine forum. When you get on the road racing though you gotta take some pictures of you out there doing your thing. Good luck with the year coming man, i hope you win it all.

Justin was out there rockin' and rollin' on my BBS/RT-615 summer set! He did quite well for street tires and beat a few regulars in SM class. I was impressed...

Yeah, it worked well, I even messed with my dampening a bit and was able to notice a big difference.

How local/distant are the road racing circuits in CO? Seems like if you want to get some quality track time on the east coast you're looking at a nice drive north or south. I'm curious to see if its the same in other parts of the country.

Very sparse out here. We have one pretty crappy track 30-40 mins south of where I am. The 1/2-mile straight is an embedded drag strip, so when you come around turn 10 heading into the straight, you cross concrete, then a VHT-covered launch pad, then asphalt, then the spot where the drag tree sits, then the other launch pad, then more concrete. It also has only a few rumble strips and is a low quality surface. Another hour away is an even worse track that is just part of an abandoned airport where runways make up parts of the "track." If we go 300 miles East, there's a nice new track in Hastings, NE, and 600 miles away is the world class Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City. Luckily, though, Genoa Motorsports Park is being built only an hour or so from both where I live and Denver. It will be a 6+ mile course that can be split into two separate 3 mile courses. It will be by far the best thing available to us...
