So I have decided to work with another EvoM member on here to have my stock IX wheels painted black with a red lip. Because my evo is my only means of transportation, he was nice enough to loan me the wheels off of his evo so that he can paint mine. The final product will be a gloss black paint with a caliper red lip and a few layers of clearcoat for added protection. He currently is rocking the stock VIII's painted black with a blue lip on a WW.

Everything should be done within the next few days so I will post the final shots with my good camera and not my phone (as shown). Any feedback would be great. Thanks all.

The coolest feeling was going from my all season Pirelli P6's to his Kumho tires and being able to feel every little bit of gravel fly off the tires as I drove. It feels way more connected to the ground driving with those on.

The blue looks pretty ugly. Maybe the red will look decent on yours, but I doubt it.

The gloss black looks good, though.

 

So I got initial shots from him on how the rims look so far after a good sanding, primer, and about 4 coats of gloss black...an additional 2 coats will go on before the red lip is applied and then the final clear coat. So far I think it's looking pretty good!

 

well, today the red and clear coat goes on...I'll be taking pictures of the wheels later today once we put them on

 

They look great the way they are now in all black. I think you'll regret the red accents - they will look very cheesy like the blue above.
