update on my hood shock desighn

so i was surfing the web one day and found hood shocks for my evo but it cost me 109 dollars on ebay and i was like screw that so i decided to make my own and well let me tell you im happy with the end product and im happy that i saved myself

well this was like a 2 hour job, first i had gone to the local auto zone and purchased a 21" shock and stoll some hardwear from one of the bigger shocks, a simple little ball joint like hardwear. then i went home to create my brackets, I had used a peice of 1/8" thick metal laying in my garage and bent it to my specs and drill my holes then painted them and rivited it in after marking where the best location of the shock on the hood and shcok tower so the hood would close correctly. and if anyone is interested and likes my design i could make you guys kits for 50 +shipping

not bad for a diy project...Dont the evo specific kits come w/ 2 shocks in a kit, one for each side??? maybe thats why they cost more...

how much did the end product end up costing you???

thanks guys i dont have anymore pics of my rims i just painted them a few days ago ill get more up and they are like a dark copper color and i dont know the pounds on the strut because they werent rated at auto zone and if you put the shock in the existing hood prop hole on the shock tower the hood wont open all the way and the hood wont close all the way with that long of a shock and also that little peice of metal you would be bolting onto wouldnt be strong enough to compress the shock, i tryd and it started bending the metal
