Plastic surgery... Literally
It isn't a direct replacement. You will have to trim the IX grill along the top - not a big deal at all. In doing this you will lose 2 mounting points on the far edge of the grill, but even without these the grill is quite secure. Since I can weld, I went ahead and cut the brackets off the discarded piece of IX grill and rewelded them to the new grill- again I don't think this is necessary, but I'm OCD about little details so I went ahead and did it. The lower edge of the grill is secured with blk zip ties to the exhisting VIII bumper "frame"
IMO I actually like that better than the 9, only reason why is because the 9 has 2 useless holes in the front unless they are for foglights or something which i have not seen yet. Then if you throw the carbon fiber brake ducts in, OMG!! Off da chain.
good work. i'm assuming you still have the front crash beam on, correct?
this is just my opinion.. i wonder (more like hope) if vendors will eventually catch on and realize that more people would go for a clean looking front like this rather than an overly aggressive front. is it hard for them to create a mold out of this?
just throwing this idea out there

i think it looks great. im a big fan of not overdoing things with fancy front ends and such.. and the main thing i prefer over the viii on the front end was just that.. it looks 100x's better, and i like it without the mitsu emblem as well. im actually thinking of removing mine.
