Shouldn't you follow up with a wax?

From Nu Finish website:

"Conventional waxes don't last long because the common ingredient in these products, carnauba wax, breaks down quickly from everyday conditions. Neither Nu Finish Liquid nor Paste Car Polish contain carnauba waxes. No other liquid or paste products can make that claim!

Nu Finish is made up of a series of zinc cross-linking polymer emulsions that help Nu Finish last longer than any other polish on the market. This is why Nu Finish is called "The-Once-A-Year Car Polish." Watch how Nu Finish makes water bead month after month."

See...this is where I'm confused. I was always under the impression that a polish was supposed to do its job -- meaning polish the surface you apply it to, and nothing more. In theory, it should do nothing else to your finish once you've used it and removed it.

This sounds more like a "non-Carnuba cleaner wax" to me.

Turbo Meg -- care to comment?

I'm also curious about that Turtle Wax "Ice" stuff that's been out for a while now, since it's advertised like a wax but is called a polish.

Ok so you still have not provided any factual information on why Nu Finish is crap, besides "i've been detailing for 10+yrs".

A lot of people say it's a great 1-step product, and also it doesn't leave the best gloss/shine but it's pretty good.

Additional comments i've found:

"It is a polymer and is not harmful to your paint at all! If you have a problem with corrison of delamintation of your paint do not blame Nufinish! Paint delamination is due to adhesion problems between rust proofing coating and paint system or is due to mechanical wear."

"I have used NuFinish for over 2 years. I'm a detail freak compaired to most(I sure as heak don't have 500 coats on my car...CRAZY!) I tried several waxes over the last 10 years or so (Mothers, Turtle wax, Zymol, Miguaires, and a few other you find at Wal Mart, nothing like exotic mail order stuff. I have found that NuFinish OUT LASTS ALL OTHERS BY FAR!!!!! I used NuFinish on our Impala and followed the directions: Apply 1st coat and 2nd coat in a month for max protection. After 9 months the NuFinish was still very slick after you washed the car and the diry was off. Water beaded like it was just applyed. The Impala was keeped out side for the most part. I sold it after the 9 months so I don't know haw long it lasted after that. Durring this test I tested Miguairs and Zymol on my other 2 cars in the same conditions as the NuFinish and both were gone in 3 months. I'm sold on NuFinish and I believe it is a good product. It worried me at 1st when I heard some folks say it ruined their paint and my 1st thought was to find a new wax but after thinking about this for a day or 2 I realized NuFinish was not at fault and these folks just had bad paint(so many cars have bad paint especially in the 80's).

I highly reccomend NuFinish! Maybe Some day I'll try Zianos but I doubt it will out peform NuFinish. Some products are just highly overrated and don't perform at all to what their reputation says about them, like K&N air filters! But befor I say that I'll give it a fair shot."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
"Nufinish's version of the best damm protection for you car's paint. In other words it's a wax along with some brilliance of shine from a polish standpoint.
One sniff and you'll kill a lot of brain cells ! Smells like paint thinner. As you can tell I'm a smelling type of guy. Push away the toxic smell and you got one of the toughest protection for your car's paint. By far the best from what I've used. I added on a coat of this onto our family Nissan Quest. Didn't clay it down or anything, just a regular wash. Came back to wash it a month later, keep in mind that it was never washed for a month, and it was still somewhat slick. Now all of this was occuring under 100+F temps, dust, and a ton of leaves all over it. I'm sure that's quite a task to work with when your a wax.
If you want MAX protection, and just a tad bit of shine, then this is the stuff. If only Nufinish made it smell like a Zymol then it'd be the perfect wax out there in the market .
Under 5 minutes to remove"
"Nu Finish had been around forever and is a polymer .. same idea as Klasse etc .. Just not the hype .. I have used it and I don't think it has the shine/brilliance as Klasse / Zaino but it is a good wheel wax if ya don't want to use the other."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~

"Not one thing wrong with NuFinish, liquid version.
It has a good safe solvent system, which is important, and not a thing in the formulation that will harm your paint system.

Now, if one wants to buy a "name", lots of "hype and bull",, there are many out there with fancy labels and lots of marketing whiz-bang, which are not a damned bit different in reality.

I know, back in the mid 80's, I was one who took part in the chemistry of the formulation, the company is Reed-Union out of Chicago and the liquid product is a good, safe, effective product.

J.C.Penny's has some great products, Sears has some great products, and having the name of Hillfinger or Polo on a product that is made in the same plant, with the same materials, does not always justify the added cost.

Same with car care products, unless one wishes to pay and up-charge for a fancy label on the product.

Back in the early 80s NuFinish was cutting edge tech.. but then back then if your car had a clear coat that was cutting edge too.

Seriously, if it is good enough for you then that's fine. There's tons of better stuff out there for your car in terms of durability and looks.

I personally would never let that stuff touch any cars I detail.

I dunno. I use maguires. Polish is usually a pre wax thing. Kinda to prep the paint. in the maguires step process it is anyway.

to be honest, ive seen a couple of bby cars that look WAY "wetter" with better products (i.e. menzerna ip, klasse aio, p21s). the reflection from the doors was so clear and there was WAY more depth to it. dont get me wrong ur car looks great, but there are many of us out there (detail-buffs) that would rather use different products esp. the ones we've tried out for ourselves and experimented with. you'll be surprised at wat a pc (portercable) can do for your car.

to each his own.

if you want product recommendations, you should def check out autopia.org

^ agreed. Your pics do no justice to the product. Your paint looks dull, bland and has no depth. Nu finish is for the driver that only waxes/washes his car bi-annually. I really dont understand why youre getting so damn protective over a wax product? You post on internet forums to get constructive criticism and you just retaliate. People with more experience than you are telling you Nu Finish IS an inferior product that just hides blemishes. I'd listen to them and not get so damn EMO!

I'm not protective over Nu Finish, I was not getting any good criticism besides "it's crap". Your response and the guy before you were good.

So can you please recommend some good products to use, including car wash stage and wax stage, thanks.

I'm not trying to use Nu Finish for life, I was trying it out. Do you personally have any recommendations?

What are you looking to do? Get a really good shine or get some durability (maybe both?) Having never owned a non-neutral colored car I'd be pressed to give you an answer from experience. I've had very good results with P21S and Poorboy's Natty blue. Some will tell you to just pick up S100 (essentially the same as P21S) but I think it may have a lower wax content. But with both of these waxes you have to re-wax frequently. As said earlier, check out www.autopia.org. Tons of information.
