hey, has anyone had problems with their spoiler fading really bad. my car only sits out when i go somewhere and is an 03, but my spoiler just looks horrible. i called a close Mitsubishi dealer and they said they will give me a new one for free, but this is just dumb how bad it looks after 3 years

 

There's tons of threads on people wing's fading. Just do a simple search and you'll find them. Do you wax your wing religiously?

 

at least your mitsu dealer will give you a new wing, mine wont

Dang...still replacing wings on an '03? Your lucky. Just take better care of your new wing. If mine ever fades, that thing is getting ripped off.

 

mitsu did a crappy clear coat job on the 03's

 

It sucks that they replace it with an evo9 wing too, cuz they arent entirely carbon fiber like the evo8 wings.

 

wow, my dealer was a jerk about my '03. you're lucky that your dealer will replace yours so willingly.

ask for a evo VIII wing for your replacement, because the IX wing is not completely carbon fiber.

Take the IX wing and never have to worry about it again.

 

Just be glad you're getting it replaced for free. Lots of people don't even get that. I had to do this recently, there's a thread on it. I got a brand new 8 wing though

 

you could have done an easy search and found this out...mine faded and its a 05..i didnt take it to the dealer i just did it myself

started sanding with 400grit and worked my way up...then shot it with dupont clear with a airbrush..came out brand spankin new

 

as far as cleaning it, i used some stuff i bought from a car store made for carbon fiber, sort of like a wax. apparently it didn't work. i keep my car very clean
