Awesome! I was doing some research on getting a IV V or VI legalized here since a teacher of mine told us it was possible to register JDM cars as grey market vehicles. He said the only problem about the Evo would be the a) the crash regulations, and b) there is no USDM version for those years. He also told me it may be possible to tell them it is basically like the JDM mirage and uses the same chassis just different powerplant. I'm still doing some research, like you said it will NOT be cheap, but seems like it's completely worth it!!
Again, congrats on a rare and beautiful car. Take care of it, I would hate to see a thread in the next few months about something bad happening. :: knock on wood ::

I seriously would challenge that statement as I've owned a VI, IV and VIII and I'd take the VIII any day. Evos are known for making crappy drivers look good and the AYC equipped models make it too easy. With an VIII it teaches you to take real lines and learn how to drive the car

Lol you are saying the models you get there dont make driving look easy? Everywhere but the US they have ACD and SAYC, or am I wrong? there have been a few independent tests that an evo 6 laps faster than a 9 mr... which has ACD and SAYC.
Im talking from my experience driving an 8, 9, GC8 impreza, and numerous other older mitsu's, and the 5 drives far better. You can feel the weight in the steering of the 8/9, the subaru's understeer, and the older mitsus suspension design is dated.

And that steering your feeling is the AYC, a drivers "aid". Don't get me wrong the system works but I like the Evo without it. I personally don't want something helping me drive my car. Besides, AYC is banned in pretty much every single sanctioned racing series. Why would you want it on your car?
But we can carry on this silly argument for ever. Bottom line is you got a beautiful car and I'll own an older Evo again someday but it won't be for its performance.

Right Drive FTW!!!
