Paint question

Is the paint on our cars not a base clear paint? I used a small amount of rubbing compund and there was yellow on the cloth. So I take it our cars are not clear coated?

On your 1990, I believe you're correct in that there is no clear. My friend's 91 VR4 was the same way.
