This is so much nicer than the tacky/dangerous/ugly a-pillar solution.

Oh yeah......i like the current set up you got man.....just keep it.
Current Upgrades - 5Zigen Rims, Injen Intake, Injen Upper & Lower Intercooler Piping...
Future Upgrades- Full TurboBack Exhaust w/O2 housing, Walboro 255, Defi Gauges, Boost Controller, Battery Kit, Forge BOV & Buschur Flash

I still gotta get the future upgrades man ...so ur sayin u like what i have in mind...u know future upgrades. ?? Let me know what u think.

Also, im sorry for asking you this but im a newbie here.....what is the wideband (AEM) for? The MR comes with Boost, oil pressure and one other gauge that i cant really think of. U think i should just get those. i mean they put it there for a reason. OR u think i should just get AEM Wideband, Boost gauge and water temp or oil pressure? which ones do u suggest? Thanx man for the quick reply.

Thanks!

It's a lot better for visibility, day and night. It's a TrustZ EL overlay:

Wideband checks the Air/Fuel (A/F) ratio and can you tell you if you are running too lean or too rich. The MR setup has boost, oil temp (had pressure by mistake) and voltage. If you are going to run much more than stock boost, that gauge is useless since it only goes up to 1.5kg/cm3 which is ~21 psi on a good day.

Get a good after market boost gauge, wideband and oil pressure guages as a start. For extra safety you could get EGT and oil temp too.

My current setup is the MR gauges + AEM Wideband, Autometer EGT and Oil Pressure (I log boost with the JDM Map sensor).

MR gauges have Oil temp not oil pressure but I am sure you know that

So ur sayin that the Wideband is the same as a A/F Ratio gauge. so why is the wide band so much more expenive than the A/F gauge.....Or does the wideband do somethin special that the A/F cant? i thought wideband is also used to tune ur car or maybe helps in tuning ur car. i do need a tune pretty soon as i just put my intake, exhaust, UIC, LIC pipes and stuff. if i get just a flash do i still need a wideband, what it i get dyno tune.....please help me man......Sorry if my questions sound stupid. as i mentioned im a newbie and dont know much but wanna learn. Thanx man

Alot of tuners use the wideband to tune the car. I agree with the replies above.....you need to get a better boost gauge and get the AEM Wideband. And if you really want get the oil pressure, and EGT. Can't really go wrong with those gauges.....and yes you do need the wideband even if you are getting the flash.

Well heres a clear explanation as these two gauges are easily confused. I typical A/F gauge reads off the narrowband o2 (the one stock on most cars) and it basically just blinks around and look pretty. Those gauges are calibrated usually to read stoich at 14.7 which is useless on an Evo except at idle because most tuned evo's run between 11.0-11.5 A/F which will always read rich on those gauges. I Wideband on the other hand has its own dedicated wideband o2 sensor that is usually put in the back part of the downipe and will actually output your exact airfuel ratio number onto a wideband A/F gauge (such as 11.2). A wideband is critical in getting a good tune so I would invest in one. You can buy a full Innovate, AEM, Zetronix, or PLX one, basically whatever one you want, they all range from about $250-400. I think the general consensus is the Innovate is usually the best one for a dedicated wideband whereas the Zeitronix has an LCD screen that can read boost, egt, rpm, wideband and everything but it costs some $$$$. Hope that helps some.

What dbsears says. But you should get a wideband just so you can verify the tune yourself. Talk with your tuner and see which wideband they can work with best and that may help your decision.

I got it from a company called GlowShift on eBay. It was $35. The fitment is actually really good but the grey paint can scratch off during install pretty easily. I purchased a can of that color spray paint when I bought the pillar and had to use it.
