I just figured out why my paint felt so bad. I am in the Navy and where I work is next to a dry dock. Well they had a big ship in it and it was just painted haze gray, now my graphite gray Evo has tiny specks of haze gray on it. I just scraped the windows with a razor, will the clay bar remove the over spray that the Navy hooked me up with?

it should remove it along w/ other contaminents on the surface of the paint, my car had 4500 miles on it and i clayed its, i couldnt believe all the crap that came off the car, especially since my car is silver, i had pin head rust spots on it here and there, the roof was by far the worst, i highly recommend doing it. i picked up the meguirs clay kit, and loved the results. car is smooth as a baby's ***!

i think a trained monkey can do it. very simple
1.wash the car throughly
2.dry car very well
3. spray the detailer provided in the kit on a small section
4.rub the clay on it back and fourth(knead the clay as u see it gets dirty, u can actually hear the rubbing so dont get nervous
5. continue to the next panel after the previous is done and wiped dry.
6. use the cleaner wax, after the whole car is done being clayed
go panel by panel and dry off
7. add another coat of wax, i use meguirs nxt gen tech wax(smells sooo good)
go panel by panel and rub the wax off,
8. stand back, crack open a and smile!

At any rate, if you clayed it correctly there should be a very serious difference, and after a few coats of Zaino polish, you'll see a huge improvement!
All painst can feel as smooth as the next, The fish eyes and runs in the paint is the difference, and cant feel that too much.

Clay bar should never scratch a paint surface even if you are not using a lubricant. There are different levels of abbrasiveness, but I'm sure that most of you are using the store bought bars that are all fine grit. If it is scratching the surface, then your bar is dirty.

The best way to preserve the bar is to only use one side of it. When one side gets dirty, don't flip it over and use the clean side, just fold the dirty side together so you will end up with two clean sides.

The only reason why you should use a lubricant is because if you just use water, the bar may stick occationally and leave a bit of clay on the surface.

As for how often you should clay, depends on how **** you are and what area you live in. If you live in an industrial area or an area where there is alot of trains, maybe every few months. I personally will not wax my car if I don't clay it. So I probably clay and wax/seal/polish every 2 months. But I am ****, and have some down time at work.

I wax my car once or twice a week, Because I do this for a living.
